The Ticket to Work Program is designed to provide individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance and/or Supplemental Security Income benefits the opportunity to enter the workforce and maintain employment with the goal of being self-supporting. Many receiving SSDI or SSI are reluctant to seek employment opportunities that might jeopardize their benefits without some type of assurance that they can be expedited back to the program should their health change or their ability to work change. Our goal at the Illinois Department of Human Services-Division of Rehabilitation is to provide the services needed to our customers so they achieve their goals while at the same time achieving a successful case closure. One impacts the other and the final result is that we all benefit. This session will also discuss ways that workforce partners and agencies can make referrals to DRS and the Ticket to Work program.
