Marketing Apprenticeships to Targeted Populations Listening Session

Description
The Marketing Subcommittee of the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board’s Apprenticeship Committee is convening a listening session of Illinois-based organizations, groups, agencies, or individuals that support the progress of people or groups that face marginalization or inequitable access in education or the workforce.

The IWIB Apprenticeship Committee, in support from a DOL Apprenticeship grant, aims to increase awareness about apprenticeships, scale the number of apprenticeship opportunities, and increase the number of individuals entering apprenticeships, specifically those who are underrepresented in apprenticeship programming. This facilitated listening session will gather information to inform Illinois’ marketing and outreach approaches to educate and connect individuals with apprenticeship opportunities. Since this grant aims to target specific populations underrepresented in apprenticeships, it is important to ensure our marketing efforts are inclusive of culturally-sensitive and culturally-informed approaches and methods that easily reach and resonate with each targeted population.
