What are the healthcare career pathways for those who start in entry-level positions? Women Employed (WE) recently conducted a qualitative research study that explored the healthcare career journeys of women who started in entry-level roles (CNA, MA, PSR). We heard from workers about the challenges in navigating a maze of credentials, job titles, rapidly changing hiring practices, and discrimination on their quest toward career advancement. These findings uncovered the need for better alignment across the healthcare training and workforce ecosystem to create clear career pathways, professional mentorship opportunities, and transparent and equitable practices.
