A diverse workforce includes a variety of talents, perspectives, and thought processes. The Autism Training and Technical Assistance Project (ATTA) develops and presents resources that assist individuals with autism in their transition from secondary education to postsecondary education or employment. ATTA provides training and support to stakeholders to provide an equitable experience for individuals on the spectrum. This session will support employers and front-line staff to recognize the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and incorporate strategies to create an inclusive workplace environment. Integrating evidence-based practices not only supports individuals with ASD but will strengthen all employees' productivity. This session will discuss disclosure of a disability and highlight the benefits of hiring an individual with ASD. Participants will take away strategies that promote inclusiveness from the application, interview, and hiring process and discover how an autism-friendly workplace can boost morale, increase innovation and productivity for all employees.
