Join Jim Potts, with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Office of Employment and Training (OET), as he discusses and demonstrates information related to Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services. This session will discuss “why” the client's assessment and the Individual Service Strategy/Individual Employment should support the client’s WIOA services. Under the “how” portion of this training, Jim will demonstrate the steps within Illinois Workforce Development System (IWDS) for recording various WIOA services, discussing the details around connecting the appropriate grant and provider to service, he will discuss what is a same-day-service, and will demonstrate the steps for adding additional episodes when a same-day-service is provided for the same client on a subsequent date. Additionally, for the “when” portion of this training, Jim will discuss the importance of timely recording of the actual services that have been provided to a client. He will include details about the OET Data Lag Policy that provides guidance on maximum timelines on when WIOA services that have been provided must be recorded. Lastly, he will discuss the importance of closing out a service, when the service has been completed.

The target audience for this training session is the new or newer front-line staff, Grant Managers who provide oversight of WIOA grants, as well as any individual who wants to learn details about WIOA services.
