Description

Special education represents a fast-paced and ever-changing area of practice. Students are entering the education environment presenting needs that are more challenging than ever. These challenges include atypical behavioral responses that are resistant to traditional methods, multifaceted eligibility requirements, regulation changes, complex funding issues, along with high stakes accountability. The professional staff is also facing challenging evaluation procedures and new licensure requirements, during a time when there exists a teacher shortage. This roundtable will train special education administrators to identify the signs of an impending controversy, teach them how to facilitate a collaborative environment, and how to acquire the knowledge and skills to reach an effective resolution.

Target Audience

This roundtable is targeted towards special education administrators who serve in the roles of directors, supervisors, coordinators, principals, assistant principals, or any special education leadership position.
