New Beginnings at Northeast Community College

New Beginnings is a unique program at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska, that prepares and supports individuals enrolled in a non-traditional program of study for their gender, as well as single parents and displaced homemakers, to achieve their education, training and career goals. Students of both genders need expanded job options. Gender and racial diversity make all occupations stronger. The New Beginnings Program provides support and skill building for adults working toward economic self-sufficiency and personal fulfillment and promotes skilled, challenging and rewarding employment for both men and women. Program services include, among others, individual support services, academic advisement, peer mentoring program, financial assistance, career planning and exploration, workshops and support groups, and a resource library. The  program is made possible, in part, with funds through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998, as administered by the Nebraska Department of Education.
