College and Career Readiness

The College and Career Readiness Institute (CCRI) is a product of the Bridging the Gap project, which is focused on local curriculum alignment efforts centered around the common core state standards. The Institute is designed to showcase local alignment initiatives and innovative practices focused on remedial/developmental education reform, academic innovation, and curriculum alignment and partnerships between secondary and postsecondary institutions. Additionally, the Institute highlights best practices in developmental education, including STEM CCR bridge models, the Illinois Mathematics Association of Community Colleges (IMACC), the Preparatory Mathematics for General Education courses, and other promising practices in developmental education.

Strayhorn_OSU_Large   Dr. Terrell Strayhorn was the Keynote Speaker for the 2015 College and Career Readiness Institute which occurred on March 11, 2015.

   Dr. Strayhorn is a nationally-recognized keynote speaker, motivational lecturer,   provocateur, and workshop facilitator. Author of 8 books, over 50 chapters, and more than 100 journal articles and reports. For his research, he was named one of the Top 12 diversity scholars in the country by Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Strayhorn has received numerous awards including Who’s Who in Black Columbus, Who’s Who in American Education, ASHE Early Career Award, among others. A highly-prolific scholar, Strayhorn earned tenure in just 3 years, has secured over $2.5 million in external grants, and directs a major research center at The Ohio State University.
