Illinois WIOA Summit

 

On October 24 and 25, 2017 the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, The Illinois Community College Board, Illinois Department of Employment Security; and the Illinois and other Core WIOA partners will be hosting the Illinois WIOA Summit 2017. The objectives of the summit will be to provide training on transitioning from WIOA planning to implementation by accelerating the development of industry and business-driven strategies and services; deepening collaboration among workforce development, education, economic development, and other partners; and fostering the development of integrated, multi-partner service delivery.

The anticipated audience includes both essential team members and other interested stakeholders:

Essential Team Members:
• IWIB/LWIB Business Members;
• Local Workforce Innovation Board Chairs and other LWIB staff;
• Workforce Development (Title 1) Program Administrators and other Department Designated Staff;
• Adult Education Administrators (Title II) Department Designated Staff;
• Department of Employment Security Office Managers (Title III) Department Designated Staff;
• Department of Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation Managers (Title IV);
• Department of Human Services TANF/SNAP E&T;
• Staff Regional and/or local economic development organizations, including Department of Commerce RED Team members;
• Career and Technical Education Administrators; and
• WIOA Core Partner\Front Line Staff

Other partners to consider for your team:
• Business and Industry Professional Organizations, including local/regional Chambers of Commerce;
• Middle School and High School Administrators/Instructors;
• Community-based organizations;
• Community action agencies;
• Foundations and Other Interested Partners; and
• Community College leadership, such as: Presidents, Trustees, Instructors, Corporate Training, and Continuing &
Community Education Administrators

Breakout sessions for the Summit will include the following topic strands:

  1. Custom Center Design: focuses on custom needs from the following perspectives employers, job seeker, and operations of one stops
  2. Business Engagement: coordinated strategies for engaging with businesses effectively
  3. Data & Accountability
  4. Resources
  5. Workforce Innovation Boards: focuses on expanded roles of Workforce Innovation Boards for WIOA
  6. Other
