Support and Empowerment Program at McLennan Community College

The Support and Empowerment Program (SEP) at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, began in 1979 as a community service of the Junior League of Waco, Inc. Since that time the program has helped more than 7,000 students discover within themselves the strength to begin a new life. The Mission of the Support and Empowerment Program (SEP) is to promote student success by providing emotional, academic and financial support to McLennan Community College students who are single parents or displaced homemakers. Program services include funds for childcare or transportation, academic counseling, crises intervention, referrals to local agencies, stress management, support meetings and parenting workshops.  Funding for the program is provided by the Carl Perkins Vocational Grant.
