The session was about creating critical thinking activities to use in math classes, problems that required students to think in a deeper, more meaningful way.

One example: If f(x)=ax^2 + bx + c then
1. If a>0 and the vertex is at (0,3), how many x-intercepts will the graph of f(x) have?
2. If a0 and the vertex in in QIV, what is true about the value of b? A. b>0 B. b=0 C. b<0 D. impossible to determine

What were some important elements or characteristics of the project or instructional strategies?:

Anyone can do this — all it takes if the desire to think outside of the box.
