Participants were provided with an overview of the nontraditional occupations, including the benefits to the individual and the workplace. During the workshop, participants created an enhanced plan for improving their college’s achievement of Perkins Nontraditional Core Indicators. Participants worked from their college’s Perkins Core Indicator data, examined their Perkins Plan for Nontraditional Occupations (Element 5) and consulted the latest in research on the root causes for participation in and completion of programs of study leading to nontraditional occupations. Participants were also provided with opportunities to share best practices for recruitment and retention of learners preparing for nontraditional occupations.

Three workshops were held on this topic:
October 7, 2013 – Kishwaukee College
October 8, 2013 – Rend Lake Market Place
October 15, 2013 – Illinois State University, Alumni Center
